Esbelli Evi

We left Istanbul yesterday and flew to Cappadocia. The topography of this place is many separate posts, but our hotel deserves a post in it's own right. It's 13 cave houses connected 20 years ago by the owner, Suha. It's the first of it's type in Cappadocia. The rock is tufa, which I guess is soft on the inside, but once it's exposed to air it hardens right up. Our room is 2 areas connected by a tunnel and except for the floor it's all carved out of tufa. The whole place is kind of a maze, it takes a while to figure out what starcaise leads where. There are peach trees, roses, vines everywhere...it's so pretty. It doesn't have a restaurant but they ordered food for us last night and set us up on the terrace. A little Turkish lady did our laundry today. It's delightful. Best hotel ever.
